this shot needs no explanation. it's an eyeball i saw on the pavement on a sidestreet in sarajevo. it was rather smelly. of course.

sarajevo is a small city surrounded by big hills. i wandered ten minutes the wrong way to town and came across a massive cemetary. all those with slavic names had grey headstones, all those with muslim names had white.

sarajevo bear

this bear lives in a small cage in the hills between sarajevo and banja luka in bosnia herz. the owner used to feed it beer, now only non-alcoholic beer is allowed. the bear drinks it using his hands/ paws. apparently his mother was shot and injured by a hunter, causing her to fall off a cliff with one of her cubs cub. Taking pity on the remaining cub - this bear - the hunter took him to a local restaurant to be reared as an alcoholic. touching, eh?
